On Tuesday 20 January 2026, at about 1110hrs, the NAIMOS task force on its routine patrols in the Bono Region encountered some Armed thugs on motor bikes in the middle of a bushy area along the Road Subinkurom – Kyeremasu in Dormaa Central.

The armed thugs who suddenly bumped into the NAIMOS task force opened fire immediately they spotted the task force. The gun fire from the thugs initially deflated the Task force’s lead vehicle’s right rear tyre.

The taskforce returned fire in defense. In the ensuing exchange of fire, one NAIMOS soldier sustained a gun shot on his right thigh. One of the armed thugs also sustained a gunshot on his left thigh and upper abdomen, following which the other thugs bolted with their motor bikes.

The task force subsequently rushed both injured persons to the St Matthew Catholic Hospital at Ampenkuro for treatment. Unfortunately, the armed thug was pronounced dead at the St Matthew Hospital. The injured NAIMOS soldier is currently responding to treatment.

NAIMOS continued its robust patrols in the area overnight and sends a strong warning to any other thugs and galamseyers to desist from such punditry acts.
