The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has inaugurated a new Appiatse Fund Management Board and Redevelopment Committee, reaffirming government’s determination to complete the reconstruction of the Appiatse community and restore the livelihoods of residents affected by the devastating disaster.

The inauguration ceremony was held in two structured sessions, beginning with the formal swearing-in of the Fund Management Board and the inauguration of the Redevelopment Committee. The session marked a renewed phase in government’s long-term commitment to rebuilding Appiatse into a safe, resilient and thriving community.

Addressing the gathering on Wednesday, 17th December, 2025, the Minister for Lands and Natural, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah commended the outgoing committee for its dedication, compassion and tireless service throughout the initial phases of the redevelopment. He acknowledged the operational and logistical challenges encountered during phases one and two of the project, stressing that the lessons learned would be critical to ensuring a smoother and more successful implementation of the final phase.

The second session, chaired by the Deputy Minister, Hon. Yusif Sulemana, focused on technical and operational briefings. Contractors from Architectural & Engineering Services Limited (AESL) presented a comprehensive overview of the redevelopment works, outlining progress made so far and their preparedness to commence the next phase of construction.

According to the presentation, significant milestones have already been achieved, including the construction of housing units and the provision of essential infrastructure such as potable water and electricity to support resettled residents. These interventions, the contractors noted, have laid a solid foundation for the completion of the redevelopment project.

Reiterating government’s unwavering commitment, Hon. Yusif Sulemana assured stakeholders that all outstanding challenges would be addressed promptly to guarantee the effective delivery of the final phase. He emphasised that transparency, accountability and the welfare of the Appiatse people would remain at the heart of the redevelopment process as government works to bring the project to full completion.
