The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Honourable Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has welcomed a seven-member delegation from the Kingdom of Eswatini to Ghana, describing the visit as a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation and share experiences in land governance.

The delegation is in the country to learn from Ghana’s land administration reforms as Eswatini works towards developing its National Land Policy.

The Minister highlighted key reforms being implemented in Ghana including the decentralisation of land services, the digitalisation of land records and efforts to reduce land disputes.

Hon. Buah explained that Ghana’s land administration framework combines statutory and customary governance structures.

“Our focus is to ensure that land services are transparent, accessible and efficient while protecting public lands and the rights of citizens”, he said, adding that district land offices are being established across the country to bring services closer to the people.

Leading the Eswatini delegation, Ms. Nonhlanhla Dlamini, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development (MTAD), said the visit was motivated by her country’s ongoing efforts to draft a National Land Policy.

“We thought of our big sister, Ghana. That is why we are here to seek assistance while also learning through the exchange of ideas”, she stated.

Ms. Dlamini said the delegation was particularly interested in understanding how Ghana coordinates government institutions and traditional authorities in land management, as well as localised land administration, spatial planning and stakeholder consultations.

The delegation received a presentation on Ghana’s land administration system and will visit key sector agencies to gather further insights to support the development of Eswatini’s National Land Policy.
