Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to deeper cooperation with Namibia as the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources hosted a 10-member Namibian parliamentary committee on Natural Resources in Accra.
Welcoming the group, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Yusif Sulemana said the visit showed the strong bond between the two countries.
“We are privileged to have you here this morning, Ghana and Namibia have a relationship grounded in history, and this visit helps us build on it.”, he stated.
He emphasized the importance of African countries working together under the continent’s broader economic vision and urged both nations to work closely under Africa’s shared development agenda.
“Whenever you find yourself in Africa, forget the name of your country. Africa is for all of us,” Hon. Sulemana added.
Responding on behalf of the Namibian delegation, the Chairperson, Dr. Tobie Aupindi said his team was eager to learn from Ghana’s long-standing experience in managing diverse natural resources, including minerals, forestry, petroleum, and marine assets.
“The Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources represents a greater part of our national resources. We are here to learn, share experiences, and understand best practices that can help both our countries move forward”, he mentioned.
He added that Namibia is particularly interested in Ghana’s approach to sustainable resource management and how policy and law are used to create opportunities for citizens.
“We want to understand how Ghana has navigated historical challenges and built systems that work. That experience is valuable to us,” Dr. Aupindi said.
The meeting included a presentation on Ghana’s policy and legal framework, followed by technical discussions between the delegation and Ministry directors.
Both sides expressed confidence that the engagement will lead to stronger cooperation and more opportunities in natural resource management.
