The Hon. Minister Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh has described the demonstration that led to the destruction of properties at the Ghana Bauxite Company in Awaso as illegal, since the demonstrators failed to comply with the Public order Act.

He stated this Wednesday, 19th June, 2019 when he led a team from his Ministry and the Minerals Commission to assess the situation at the mining company, following a two-day off violent protest by workers of Ghana Bauxite Company (GBC) “From all indications, the workers who staged this demonstration did not seek clearance from the police to embark on a demonstration, neither did they notify the management of the company of their intended action”, he stated.

On his part, the General Manager of the company J. K. Fang, appealed to the Government to immediately bring to book all workers who took part in the despicable act. “I believe the arrest and prosecution of such workers is necessary to restore investors confidence in Ghana.”

The visit by the Minister and his entourage was to obtain a first-hand information on the causes and aftermath of the violent disturbances by some of the company.
