The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources responsible for Mines, Hon. George Mireku Duker says Ghana is an ideal destination for investment in the mining sector.

According to him, Ghana’s reputation as a leading producer of gold and the commitment of government to add value to the natural resource makes it an attractive destination for mining.

Speaking at Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PIDAC) Conference on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Hon. Duker said that the prospect of minerals such as iron, diamond, Bauxite and lithium afford investors opportunity in various aspects of mineral exploitation.

Speaking on the topic, “Getting to Net Zero; Mining’s role in reducing global emissions, Hon. Duker said, the government has implemented programmes and policies to promote sustainable and eco-friendly mining.

He stated that promotion of responsible mining and adoption of good mining practices will cause a reduction in emissions by Mining companies in the country.

He spoke of Ghana’s commitment in ensuring that the environmental, social and governance charters regulating the mining industry guarantee adequate and shared responsibility through mining activities towards the attainment of zero emissions.

On the relations Ghana and Canada , Hon Duker said the long-standing bond between Ghanaian and Canadian mining firms will propel the industry to raise as much revenue and rake in more investment.
