MINISTRY OF LANDS AND NATURAL RESOURCES

LAND ADMINISTRATION PROJECT II ADDITIONAL FINANCING (LAP 2-AF)

DISCLOSURE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (ESIA) FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND REFURBISHMENT OF CLIENT SERVICE ACCESS UNITS (CSAUs) IN HO, SUNYANI, CAPE COAST, WA AND TEMA

The Government of Ghana (GoG) through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources (MLNR) and the Lands Commission is implementing the Land Administration Project Phase II with funding from the World Bank. The Project’s Development Objective (PDO) is to consolidate and strengthen land administration and management systems for efficient and transparent land service delivery. Component 2 of the Second Land Administration Project (LAP-2) – Additional Financing focuses on the expansion of the Client Service Access Units (CSAUs) under the Lands Commission. The expansion of the CSAUs will involve the following works:

  • Construction of two (2) new CSAUs offices in Cape Coast and Ho;
  • Extension to the existing the Lands Commission Office in Sunyani;
  • Refurbishment of a section of the Lands Commission office building in Wa and
  • Completion of a section of the ground floor of a multi-purpose office block in Tema

The above works will entail compliance with environmental assessments. Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Documents have therefore been prepared by the Government of Ghana (GOG) through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Lands Commission to address the environmental concerns.

The ESIA report presents policies, regulations and institutional frameworks; design of the proposed works and alternatives; environmental and socio-economic baseline information; stakeholder consultations; and potential environment, social, health and safety (ESHS) impacts. The ESMP gives details of how the identified ESHS impacts will be avoided, minimized and mitigated. It also includes measures to address potential grievances and how adverse impacts will be monitored.

Notice is hereby served on the general public that hard copies of the aforementioned documents can be accessed at the under-listed locations;
