Marianna Gavriel, Honorary Consul General of Greece in Accra has called on the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah on Wednesday, 21st February, 2025 to discuss Greek mining investments in Ghana, particularly the Metlen Energy & Metals Company.

She said, Metlen Energy, a Greek Company as part of their mining investment, is eager to partner with government to continue its mining activities following a prospective mining license secured from the GIADEC for exploring and subsequently extracting bauxite deposit in the Ninayhin -Mpasaaso area of the Ashanti Region.

While congratulating the Minister on his new role, Gavriel asserted that the Company remains committed to its strategy of ensuring diverse supply sources globally and strengthening its position throughout the entire value chain of the aluminium industry whiles aiming to construct railway line to transport bauxite from the mine to the port of Takoradi.

The Hon. Minister on his part said, Ghana is open for to business opportunities in the mining sector and other areas of national interest.

He welcomed the railway line construction idea, emphasising its importance for efficiently transporting heavy equipments and raw minerals while sustaining Ghana’s road network and enhance mining activities.

He also highlighted the need to broaden the mining sector’s investment scope due to increased industrialisation.

The Minister assured the Greece Consul General of Ghanaian government’s determination to fast track and make things happen, stressing that ” our polices are also geared towards attracting investments”, he concluded.

Metlen Energy & Metals Company upon full operation, is estimated to possess geological reserves of approximately 300 million tons of bauxite and is anticipated to yield around 10 million tons of bauxite annually, equivalent to an estimated annual turnover of $500 million at current market prices.
