The Chiefs and People of the Gbi Traditional Area at a colourful durbar at Hohoe in the Volta Region have honoured the Hon. Minister John-Peter Amewu.

The durbar attracted top government officials including the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other Ministers of State notable among them were Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful and Prof. Frampong Boateng as well as the Deputy MinisterS for Lands and Natural Resources Babara Otang Gyasi, and Benito Owusu Bio.

The grand durbar was held in honour of Hon. John Peter Amewu as a son from the area, in view of his appointment as a cabinet Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

Speaking at the durbar, the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, said the President recognised Mr.Amewu as a gem of the Gbi state, the Volta Region and Ghana and has appointed him to be part of his cabinet to manage the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

For his part, Togbega Gabusu, Paramount chief of the Gbi Taditional Area, said he and his people are solidly behind the Hon. Minister who he said is currently heading the most sensitive and tedious ministry in the country.


While presenting a parcel to the Hon. Minister, Togbega Gabusu said the appointment of Hon. Amewu by the President has strengthened the bond between the people of Gbi and the government.
