As part of the 2016 performance evaluation of Chief Director’s in Government Ministries, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Prof. Bruce Banoeng-Yakubo has obtain the 4th position with the Chief Director of the Ministry of Education Enoch Cobbinah occupying the top most position out of the best five Chief Directors whose work was adjudged excellent during the evaluation.

This was made known at the signing of the 2017 performance agreement between Head of Civil Service and Chief Directors at a brief ceremony in Accra.

The signing of the agreement is to among others, strengthen the performance management culture in the civil service.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chief of Staff Hon. Mrs. Frema Osei Opare stressed that government will not tolerate non-performance among Ministries but trust the Ministers will engage Chief Directors on regular review meetings to ensure performance.

Chief Directors, she said play a critical role in the achievement of Governments and urged them to support government to deliver on its mandate.

The Head of Civil Service, Nana K. Agyekum Dwamena said the agreement was not to downplay the role of Chief Directors but provide a framework to lay out their performance.

A member of the Evaluation Team Dr. Esther Ofei-Aboagye, said during the year under review, the Ministries strengthened their efforts through innovation in client’s service delivery, research and analysis of data to support policy making and information sharing.

Other chief directors who performed well included Mr. Solomon Asoalla of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Prof. Thomas Akabzah, Ministry of Petroleum and Mr. Godwin Brocke, Ministry of Roads and Highways.

Also present at the ceremony were the sector Ministers for Lands and Natural Resources, Roads and Highways, Information, Communication, Interior, Tourism and Creative Arts.
